The author, a young English woman, leaves Hanoi on a tiny pink Honda Cub with the either hare-brained or inspired plan to ride it solo to Saigon along the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail, that historic military conduit alternately used by the North and bombed by the US during the Vietnam War. What results is not only the story of her often difficult ride through Vietnam, Laos, & Cambodia,  but of the war and its lingering effects on the land and people.
