Final Day of the Second Kickstart Classic

Strom Thurmond Dam Looking across to Georgia

The final day had Roger and I speeding south again through the South Georgia countryside. We continued south on US 441 into Florida and to Lake City where we picked up US 41. 41 joined US 27 at HIgh Springs and we contuned on US 41 whene 27 split off east at WIlliston. Traffic was light as predicted all the way to Dunellon, but soon after, at Floral City, we headed east and south toward the Green Swamp and Groveland. A jog south on 33 took us to Deen Still Road which was a nice sweeper-filled ride east to US 27, south of all the mess of traffic and lights in Ocala and Leesburg. We took 27 south, me peeling off at Chalet Suzanne Road for home and Roger continuing on to his home in Zolfo Springs.

Old Faithful's weld had held up for the ride south and I arrived home to the cheers of "What did you bring us?" from my children. Once again, Old Faithful had delivered the goods, running flawlessly the entire time. This trip brought about the first serious problem with the old CB, but many miles had rolled under those old wheels before this occurred so I can't complain. She deserves a rest and that she'll get.

Cheers,

Road Dog
